Series background & context

The Augment War series picks up the story of Siena, Reklin, and Ero after the events of The Augmented, when the idea of human augments has already shaken the Krey Empire. The rebellion did not fix everything, it simply created room for new kinds of conflict to erupt.

In Alliance of Outlaws an old enemy resurfaces, backed by militant zealots and a leader hungry for revenge. Reklin, now a retired soldier, is pulled into the Grand Hunt, a lethal contest where teams of elite fighters stalk one another as prey. At the same time Ero Bright’Lor tries to stitch together an alliance from outlaw clans who have spent generations hating each other, hoping their combined fleets can stand up to the Empire.

Far from both of them, a scavenger crew finds a derelict starship and discovers that Siena, the most powerful augment of all, has been trapped aboard and evolving for more than a decade.

Beacon of War follows the fallout when Siena returns to find her friends surrounded by enemies and rumors spreading of missing Imperial soldiers. Those whispers lead her, Reklin, and Ero toward a classified program that is experimenting with augment technology on military recruits, turning a political struggle into a race to expose atrocities hidden on a heavily fortified world.

In Haven of Glass the truth leaks. Footage of cloned soldiers called splicers murdering civilians hits the public, sparking riots across the Empire. Siena and the infamous Ghost Queen grab that moment to turn the loose coalition of outcasts into a real Alliance, while Reklin navigates a dakorian council on the edge of civil war and tries to recognize a new Imperial weapon before it can be used.

Fleet of Fire escalates everything into open war. The Alliance formally breaks away, Emperor Dralik dispatches a massive armada to burn them down, and traitors move behind the scenes to remove the Ghost Queen from command. With Siena’s altered genome beginning to fail, she gambles on one last plan to protect both Lumineia and the Alliance capital, while Reklin leads dangerous strikes deep in enemy territory.

Where The Augmented is about discovering power from the bottom of an oppressive system, The Augment War is about what it costs to wield that power responsibly. It reads like military space opera set in the same universe as Lumineia, full of starship battles, special operations missions, shifting alliances, and the lingering scars of earlier revolutions.
