Series background & context

The Saga of the Nano Templar blends military science fiction with explicit questions of faith, duty, and liberation. If that sounds like an unusual combination, it is, and that is part of the series' identity.

The central character is Templar Drin, a warrior shaped by advanced nanotech and by a religious order that gives his power a moral frame. In Justified, Drin is cut off from the support structure that normally defines him. He crash-lands on a desert world ruled by a tyrannical alien empire and has to decide what his calling means when there are no brothers beside him, no chain of command to lean on, and millions of enslaved people who need help now.

That first setup gives the series a clean spine. Drin is powerful, but isolation changes the kind of story this is. He is not just winning fights. He is being forced to choose what kind of man he is when faith, technology, and responsibility all point in the same direction but the cost keeps rising.

Sanctified opens the story outward through Anais and the Elorian nanites living inside her. That book keeps Drin in motion, but it adds a more personal struggle around belief, identity, and the possibility of rebellion. The stakes are still military, yet the pressure lands at human scale through whether Anais can inspire confidence and whether Drin can keep sacrificing comfort for mission.

Then Glorified goes big.

The final book moves toward fleets, superweapons, and older secrets hidden in space, turning the series from local liberation story into something closer to a galactic reckoning. Even there, though, the through-line stays consistent. Power is never enough on its own. These books keep returning to what power is for, and what kind of soul survives using it.

So if you want action-heavy science fiction with strong convictions, enslaved worlds, and a hero whose inner life matters as much as the firefights, this series has a clear lane of its own.
