The Premonition Books in Order

The Premonition begins with Evie Claremont arriving at Crestwood College, hoping a fresh start will finally quiet the nightmare that has been following her. Instead she meets Reed Wellington, a fellow student who seems drawn to her and alarmed by her at the same time. Very quickly, ordinary campus life gives way to hidden powers, impossible attraction, and the realization that Evie is connected to a supernatural world she does not understand.

At its center, though, it stays close to Evie. She is young, smart, stubborn, and constantly trying to make sense of forces that would rather keep her in the dark. Reed is one major pull in her life, protective, secretive, and tied to the angel side of the story. Brennus de Graham brings another, as a dangerous and seductive faerie king whose interest in Evie is anything but simple. Russell matters too, which gives the series an emotional shape built on competing loyalties instead of a neat, easy romance.

Across Inescapable, Intuition, Indebted, Incendiary, and Iniquity, the books widen from paranormal campus mystery into a much larger conflict involving angels, faeries, prophecy, captivity, bargains, and war. Evie's dreams are not just bad dreams. Her visions, her changing nature, and her relationships all become part of the larger struggle. The story keeps circling back to one central question: is Evie free to choose who she will be, or has that choice already been made for her?

The college setting is one of the things that gives the series its feel. Bartol uses dorm rooms, classes, and first-year uncertainty to ground the early books, so the supernatural turns hit harder when they arrive. Even later, when the story grows darker and the stakes become more cosmic, there is still a strong sense of Evie as a young woman trying to hold on to herself while everything around her shifts.

That is really the key to the whole series. The Premonition is paranormal romance, but it is also a story about identity, power, temptation, and the cost of loving people who can save you or ruin you. The tone leans dramatic, emotional, and sometimes dark, with lots of action and a very strong sense of fate pressing in from all sides. If you like college-age fantasy that starts personal and then turns mythic, this is the Amy A Bartol series most likely to pull you in first.
