Series background & context

The Omega Collective is a shared sci-fi romance series by Susan Hayes and Mina Carter, set on an Earth that has already lost the war. The Tolath have taken the planet, human communities are scattered or controlled, and the women at the center of these books are living with the fallout every day. Some are rebels. Some are survivors. None of them are waiting quietly for rescue.

That is the hook.

The series currently runs from Var through Rett, with each book focusing on a different woman and the alien male who becomes tangled up in her future. The romance structure leans into fated mates and protective heroes, but the setting keeps everything tense. These are not easy pairings. The men come from the conquering side, and the women have every reason to distrust them.

That distrust is what gives the books their bite. A hero may know immediately that a woman is meant for him, but that does not solve the bigger problem of war, captivity, divided loyalties, or personal grief. The women are carrying real stakes of their own, whether that means protecting family, leading rebels, escaping capture, or rebuilding after betrayal.

The tone is intense, fast, and very romance-forward. Readers who like their alien heroes growly, their heroines stubborn, and their worlds a little harsher than average will probably feel at home here. Start with Var if you want the cleanest entry point, then keep going in order so the wider resistance story and shifting power balance land the way they should.
