Series background & context

The Looking-Glass Curse takes a familiar storybook idea and twists it into something stranger, sexier, and more dangerous. After a breakup and a rough turn in life, Lyssa inherits a crumbling estate from a mysterious relative and ends up falling through a mirror into a Wonderland that is nothing like a children's tale.

This Wonderland bites.

The world on the other side is lush, decadent, upside down, and ruled by real danger. The Queen of Hearts is not quirky. She is a tyrant. Hatter, Chess, and the White Knight are not decorative figures from a fantasy landscape either. They are powerful, wounded men bound up in a rebellion that needs Lyssa more than she understands at first.

That is the central pull of the series. Lyssa arrives in Wonderland trying to escape her old life, only to discover a place where she matters in ways she never did back home. The magic of the realm responds to her. Old bloodlines and hidden powers point toward a bigger destiny. At the same time, she has to decide whether she can trust the men drawing her deeper into a conflict that could cost them all their heads.

The books have a vivid, playful style on the surface, but the stakes underneath are real. There is a sense of excess to the setting, with clubs, courts, cards, and altered logic, yet the emotional story is grounded in belonging, courage, and the shock of finding a home in the most unlikely place. That mix keeps the series feeling fun without losing tension.

It is a fantasy wonderland with teeth.

Readers who enjoy fairy tale retellings, alternate worlds, rebellious magic, and heroines discovering that their so-called escape is really the start of their true story will probably click with this trilogy. The Looking-Glass Curse leans into the weirdness of Wonderland and makes it romantic, dangerous, and deeply personal.
