Survival means playing a role she hates and trusting that the stubborn prince she left behind will understand why she did it.

Together, the duet leans hard into second chance romance, fake engagement and marriage of convenience tropes, and the idea that trust is something you build, lose, and fight to rebuild. The emotional stakes feel close to the skin, even as the story deals with uprisings, assassinations, and the threat of two kingdoms sliding back into open war.
