The Last Dawn Books in Order

The Last Dawn is a post-apocalyptic survival series about a family scattered across Florida after a fast-moving virus destroys much of modern society. The illness kills quickly, services fail, and familiar places become dangerous. The survivors are left to deal with empty roads, scarce supplies, armed groups, and the hard question of who can still be trusted.

The world ends fast. Getting through the next day is the real job.

The short prequel, Chaos, introduces Cori Dresdon as she watches Miami fall apart in the heat of summer. She is separated from her mother and sets out to reach her, while the people around her become more desperate by the hour. It works as an on-the-ground view of the first collapse, before the larger family story takes over.

In Apocalypse, Cori's father, Colonel Noah Dresdon, is stranded on a NASA space station 250 miles above Earth while the virus spreads below. His wife is sick, his daughters are separated, and communication has nearly vanished. When a resupply mission goes wrong, Noah and a colleague take their chance to return to a planet that no longer resembles the one they left.

Back on Earth, the series follows several groups of survivors. Noah is trying to find his family. Cori and her sister Michalla are separated. Other young survivors, including Dax and Reilly, are searching for loved ones of their own. Their paths cross as the danger becomes more organized, with gangs and local forces claiming territory, food, weapons, and people.

Family is the engine of these books. Noah's return from space matters because he refuses to give up on finding his wife and daughters. Cori's choices matter because she is trying to reach Michalla. Even when the group gains allies, every decision is shaped by whether it might lead someone home or cost them the people they have left.

After Midnight continues the hunt for Michalla, with separate groups moving through a harsher world and facing capture, violence, and unreliable information. Horizons broadens the setting and introduces more of the rebuilt, or partly rebuilt, world beyond the family's immediate route. The series keeps its focus on survival rather than easy answers.
