The Impressions Books in Order

The Impressions is a compact two-book series, but it covers a lot of emotional ground in that short space. Rather than building a huge cast or a long-running action plot, Harlan keeps the focus on two women, two brothers, and the way one relationship can stir up old questions for another. It is contemporary romance, but with a slightly more reflective mood than some of his later, faster-moving series.

The first book, Impressions of You, follows Mia, a special-needs teacher who has built a life around caring for other people. Then Wesley Marsden enters the picture. The attraction is important, but so is the sense that Wesley's past is shaping everything he does.

The second book, Impressions of Me, turns to Dacia, who has often been seen as the wilder one in her circle and is trying to rebuild after painful events. Her connection with Kane Marsden keeps the series linked, but the emotional angle changes. Where Mia's story leans toward discovery, Dacia's leans more toward recovery, safety, and the question of whether a new life can actually hold.

That shift is what makes the duet work. The books are connected, but they do not simply repeat each other. They let one story echo through the next. Friendship matters here, family matters here, and the past never sits quietly in the corner for long.

It is a small series, and that is part of the appeal.

If you want an easy entry point into Harlan's romance work, this is a good one. Two books, one linked emotional arc, and characters who feel like they are trying to love honestly while still dragging plenty of history behind them.
