The Idle Point, Maine Books in Order

Idle Point is the kind of setting Bretton writes especially well. It feels weathered, intimate, and a little haunted by the past, not in a supernatural sense, but in the way old towns keep people's stories close. In At Last and Someone Like You, love is tangled up with class differences, lost years, broken families, and the things children carry into adulthood.

These are books about coming back.

That return may be to a hometown, a first love, a parent in crisis, or a version of yourself you thought you had outgrown.
