The Handyman Books in Order

The Handyman books are where Vincent Zandri leans into erotic noir, obsession, and the blurry line between art and predation. These stories follow an unnamed writer who wants experience badly enough to ruin himself for it. He is hungry for success, hooked on desire, and very easy to manipulate.

That is exactly why the series works.

The opening setup in Lust & Letters is simple and nasty. The narrator is a struggling author who has spent years getting nowhere. He thinks love, sex, and pain might finally give him the raw material he needs to write something real. Then a woman makes him an offer, become her handyman, and murder enters the picture alongside ambition and lust.

From there, the series plays out in episode-like installments built around Stella, other dangerous women, sexual power games, betrayal, and the narrator's slow slide into a life he cannot control. The books keep asking the same ugly question in different ways: what are you willing to do for desire, for money, for art, or simply to feel alive?

The tone is hotter and more melodramatic than Zandri's Albany detective books, but the core instincts are familiar. People lie to themselves. Desire becomes leverage. Violence comes wrapped in intimacy. Even when the books push toward pulp and excess, they stay interested in shame, need, and the stories people build to excuse what they have done.

Do not come to this series expecting a traditional mystery with a neat puzzle. Come for a feverish mix of noir confession, erotic suspense, and serialized trouble. The narrator is not reliable, the women around him are never as simple as he thinks, and each new arrangement has a way of ending in blood.
