Highlander (Mary Wine) Books in Order

The Highlander series is Mary Wine working in a rougher, more openly political Highland mode. These books still deliver abduction plots, clan tension, and strong chemistry, but they are also tied to questions of loyalty to crown and country.

To Conquer a Highlander begins with a very direct conflict. Torin McLeren discovers a plot against his king and takes Shannon McBoyd prisoner to stop it. In Highland Hellcat, Connor Lindsey's desperate bride theft pulls a fiery heroine into a marriage neither side expected to want. Highland Heat builds on the fallout and brings in larger danger, pairing passion with a fight that reaches beyond one household.

The heroines matter a lot here. They are not placeholders waiting to be claimed. Shannon wants revenge as much as she wants answers. Brina has been raised for a very different future and does not give in easily. Deirdre has to reckon with disgrace, danger, and the possibility of starting over. That gives the series a useful balance. The men are forceful, but the women push back hard enough to keep the books lively.

This is also a good series if you like your historical romance to feel in motion. People are traveling, fleeing, being carried off, hiding loyalties, or trying to outmaneuver one another. The settings feel wild, and the stakes often move from personal to political very quickly.
