Series background & context

Set in 1813, The Crown Jewels Regency Mysteries follow Lord Roland Percy and Lady Grace Tilbury as they step from ballroom gossip into royal intrigue. The pair move through glittering London seasons, seaside retreats, and northern castles, solving crimes that brush the edge of the throne.

In The Missing Diamond, Roland begins as a man under pressure to secure his inheritance by marrying well. When the diamond of the season vanishes, along with his reputation if he fails to find her, he joins forces with her best friend, Lady Grace. What starts as a desperate search for a missing debutante quickly reveals a kidnapper who understands exactly how much power a good match can hold.

The Ruby Dagger keeps the stakes high inside St James's Palace. A murder and the theft of the Prince Regent's new ruby dagger throw court into turmoil. Roland, still trying to rebuild his standing, and Grace, determined to be more than a pretty ornament, are ordered to deliver both the killer and the stolen gift.

In The Sapphire Intrigue, the action shifts to Brighton and the Royal Pavilion. A military advisor is found dead, his secret codes gone, and the Pavilion is locked down under royal command. The investigation forces Roland and Grace to work in close quarters with people who would happily see them fail.

The Emerald Threads brings them north to Alnwick Castle for their first Christmas as an earl and countess. There they confront missing village children, a fading duke obsessed with a mysterious woman from his past, and an inheritance of secrets that refuses to stay buried.

Throughout the series, the mystery plots intertwine with a slow‑burn romance and questions of duty, class, and trust. Roland and Grace must navigate strict social rules while slipping into back corridors, gaming hells, and servants' spaces where the real information lives.

Readers who like historical mysteries with a strong romantic thread, plenty of ballroom atmosphere, and cases that brush against national politics will find a lot to enjoy here. The series also lays the groundwork for Charity and Peregrine's story in The Diamond of the Ton Regency Mysteries.
