The Creature Files Books in Order

The Creature Files is a science-horror series about dangerous organisms, hidden government work, and field teams sent into places where containment has already failed. The stories follow Dr. Dayna Raines as she is pulled into crises that begin as scientific emergencies and quickly become fights to prevent much larger disasters.

The series starts with Spores. An earthquake hits downtown Denver even though there is no nearby active fault system to explain it. Dayna and an emergency response team trace the disturbance to a decommissioned deep injection well once used by the U.S. Army for chemical-weapons disposal. Beneath the city, unstable caverns are only part of the problem.

Something else was buried deeper.

The team must descend, assess the danger, and stop another quake before it causes mass casualties. But the underground facility also holds a biological organism so lethal that military scientists sealed it miles below the surface. The pressure comes from the clock, the cramped terrain, and the realization that their mission has become much more than a geological investigation.

Venom sends the story to Sierra Leone, where doctors find a troop of dead baboons in the jungle. They fear a spillover virus, but the deaths move too quickly and do not match any known pathogen. By the time Dayna is asked to coordinate a response for CERF, a covert unit that handles biological threats, the situation is already getting worse.

The second book adds a jungle setting, a monsoon, and predators that seem tied to an outbreak but are not easily explained by medicine. Dayna's role also grows. She must lead people through a crisis while working with incomplete information and deciding what risks are acceptable when a threat could spread beyond the region.
