Series background & context

The Community is Santino Hassell’s paranormal suspense trilogy about psychics, secrets, and an organization that claims to offer protection. The series runs through Insight, Oversight, and Sightlines. Although each book highlights a different couple, the mystery continues across all three, so reading in order is important.

In Insight, Nate Black has grown up as the outsider in a family known for psychic abilities. He is an empath and has never felt at ease with what he can do. When his estranged twin dies in New York under suspicious circumstances, Nate receives a vision that convinces him the death was not a suicide. He heads toward the city in search of answers.

On the road, Nate meets Trent, an engineer whose skepticism and sharp humor are a strange but welcome contrast to Nate’s experience of the world. Their immediate pull toward each other becomes part of the mystery. In New York, Nate finds other psychics and learns about the Community, a hidden network with a polished public purpose and a much more troubling underside.

The pressure builds from there. Oversight follows Holden Payne, the privileged heir to the Community’s founder, after disappearances and deaths expose cracks in the institution he has always trusted. Sixtus Rossi, an Invulnerable whose mind and body are resistant to psychic influence, is assigned to watch Holden. Their connection grows as Holden begins to understand what his family may be hiding.

By Sightlines, the threat is no longer distant. Chase Payne and Elijah are trapped at the Farm, cut off from allies and forced to rely on one another while the Community’s leaders pursue control. The trilogy brings earlier couples back into the story as the characters face the question at the heart of the series: can an organization built to help vulnerable people survive when its leaders use fear and power to control them?

Expect psychic abilities, missing-person investigation, conspiracy, danger, and explicit romance. The tone is darker than a light paranormal romance, but the emotional core stays with people learning whom they can trust. Begin with Insight, then continue straight through Oversight and Sightlines for the full arc.
