In the Company of Shadows is a dark speculative series created by Santino Hassell and Ais. The books take place in a future shaped by war, political control, and an uneasy peace. At the center is the Agency, a powerful secret organization that recruits operatives and sends them into dangerous work against insurgents and other threats.

The story begins with Evenfall, presented here in two volumes. Its central partnership brings together Boyd, a former rebel placed under the Agency’s control, and Sin, an elite operative with a volatile reputation. They do not begin with trust, shared values, or much reason to believe the other is safe. Yet the Agency needs them to function as a team.

That is the engine of the series. Missions, surveillance, violence, and secrets create the external pressure, while Boyd and Sin’s changing relationship carries the emotional weight. They are forced into close contact while both are dealing with trauma, divided loyalties, and the question of whether the institution commanding them can be trusted.

Evenfall Volume Two continues that same opening arc, deepening the partnership and the stakes around it. The volumes work best when read back to back.

The series blends dystopian suspense, action, espionage, and a slow-building relationship. It also deals with difficult material, including violence, psychological pressure, and the aftermath of war.
