Series background & context

The Bloodstone Saga is Courtney Cole's myth-heavy young adult series, and it wears its love of fate, reincarnation, and ancient history right out in the open. If you want Greek mythology mixed with romance and past-life drama, this is the part of her catalog that does it most directly.

The series follows Macy Lockhart, who learns that her life is tied to the Fates and to an ancient order called the Order of the Moirae. At first, she believes she understands her role. Then the ground starts shifting. Her identity, her purpose, and even the shape of her past are far more complicated than she has been led to believe.

Destiny is everywhere in these books.

One of the series' big hooks is the way it moves between present-day life and older lives, especially those tied to ancient Egypt. Cleopatra, long-buried histories, and a soul mate lost again and again across lifetimes all feed into the larger emotional arc. The romance is not light or casual. It is built on the idea of loving the same person through repeated tragedy.

As the books move from Every Last Kiss through Fated, With My Last Breath, and My TatteredBonds, the scope grows from personal confusion into something much bigger. Olympus enters the picture more fully. Prophecy matters. Sacrifice matters. Macy's story gradually becomes Harmonia's story, and the series keeps asking whether love can survive a fate that seems designed to break it.

House of Thebes adds extra context by going back to the beginning of Harmonia and Cadmus. It works as a bonus piece that deepens the mythology and emotional history rather than replacing the main arc.

These books lean YA in voice, but the emotional stakes are large. Expect gods, past lives, tragic cycles, ancient settings, and a heroine who has to decide whether accepting her destiny is the same thing as surrendering to it.
