Series background & context

The Bears of Crooked Creek is a small-town shifter romance series where bear shifters live close to human life without making their secret too obvious. Crooked Creek supplies the familiar comforts of a community story, along with the extra complications that come from living around powerful, protective people who can turn into bears.

The titles tell you the mood.

These are playful, quick romances with titles like Bear Necessities, Don't Poke the Bear, and What a Bear. The humor does not mean there is no conflict. Shifter secrets, old obligations, family expectations, and threats to the people the heroes care about keep the characters on edge.

Each book puts a new couple at the center, while returning faces help make Crooked Creek feel like a connected place. The bear shifters can be intimidating, especially when their instincts say someone needs protecting, but the heroines have their own concerns and are not easily pushed into a future they did not choose.

The small-town setting matters because everybody is likely to know everybody else's history. That can be useful when a character needs help, but it can also make it harder to escape gossip, family pressure, or a mistake from the past. Romance becomes part of the wider community rather than a private matter.

The series keeps things warm and direct. Expect fated attraction, possessive bear heroes, women who challenge them, and problems that need to be solved before the couple can settle into a new life. The holiday entry, A Howly, Growly, Holiday, brings other shifters into the mix for a seasonal visit with the Crooked Creek crowd.

Start with Bear Necessities and continue in order for the fullest sense of the town and its returning characters. It is a good choice for readers who want shifter romance with a cozy community feel and a little bite.
