Series background & context
Academy for Reapers is a connected paranormal romance series about a young woman entering a school where the students are trained to deal with death, souls, and the threats waiting beyond the human world. It is a collaboration between Piper Fox and M Guida, and it follows Julie from her first uncertain days at the academy through a much larger fight.
Julie has a reason to be afraid from the start.
Her visions suggest that her father is in danger, and the academy is not the safe refuge it first appears to be. She has trials to survive, rules to learn, and powerful people watching what she might become. Demons and angels are not distant legends here. They are part of the system Julie has been pushed into.
Rusty becomes central to both the romance and the larger story. He is a difficult reaper with his own wounds and secrets, and Julie's connection with him develops under pressure. Their relationship is not separate from the plot. Helping Rusty, trusting him, and understanding what he has been accused of all affect Julie's choices as the series moves forward.
The school setting gives the books a familiar academy rhythm, but the stakes are darker than classes and rivalries. Souls can be stolen. Demons can cross boundaries. Authority figures may be hiding their own agendas. Julie has to work out who deserves loyalty while learning what her own abilities mean.
Each book raises the pressure. Academy for Reapers Year One introduces Julie's new world and her urgent personal mission. The later books send her through Hell, force her to gather allies, and test whether she can lead when the conflict becomes too big for one person to manage.
Read the four books in numerical order. This is one continuing story, and the emotional payoffs depend on watching Julie and Rusty change as the dangers around them grow.
