Series background & context
The Augmented series drops you into the Krey Empire, a galaxy spanning regime where humans are born and die as slaves on thousands of worlds. Siena is one of those slaves, an ordinary young woman whose act of defiance leaves her scarred and marked as trouble.
She is sold to Ero Bright’Lor, a fallen Krey noble with a desperate plan to restore his disgraced house. Ero believes he can increase a slave’s value by secretly altering human DNA, turning them into something more than bodies to be bought and sold. His illegal experiment makes Siena one of the first augments and puts a target on both of their backs.
Chasing them is Reklin, a bone armored soldier whose loyalty to the Empire is as rigid as the plates he wears, at least at first.
Across Empire of Ashes, Rise of Renegades, and Galaxy of Titans you watch these three points of view collide. Ero and his brother try to build a hidden refuge for augments, crime syndicates and clan politics close in, and Siena keeps discovering new abilities that make her valuable to everyone and truly safe with no one.
The books lean into big space opera energy, with prison planets, clan arenas, outlaw fleets, and secret worlds threaded through quieter moments where characters argue about loyalty, freedom, and what they are willing to destroy in order to change a brutal system. Siena’s journey from frightened slave to someone who can shape the fate of empires is the emotional spine that holds the explosions together.
The Augmented story also lays the groundwork for The Augment War series, which returns to Siena, Reklin, and Ero years later to explore what happens after the first rebellion. If you like linked sagas, reading both series in order lets you watch a single act of resistance echo out into a full scale galactic conflict.
