Series background & context

Tattered & Torn is set in Wolf Gap, a remote Oregon town surrounded by mountains, dense forest, and the long memory of one terrible night. Years ago a violent crime ripped through the community, leaving one family in ruins and several others permanently changed. The series picks up in the aftermath, when the children who lived through that night are adults still carrying the weight of it.

In Tattered Stars, a woman returns to Wolf Gap to try to right some of her father’s wrongs and turn inherited land into an animal sanctuary. The sheriff whose family was nearly destroyed by that same father wants her gone, yet finds himself pulled into protecting her when threats escalate around the refuge she is building. Falling Embers follows a daredevil firefighter and the best friend he once pushed away, now an EMT who spends her free time flying down mountain trails on a bike. Their second chance romance runs alongside a string of dangerous incidents that may not be accidents at all.

Hidden Waters shifts the lens to a woman who grew up isolated and controlled, finally tasting independence in a tiny rental cottage and a job that lets her test out a normal life. Her unexpected roommate, a quiet man with his own haunted past, sees past her carefully constructed armor, and together they discover that the shadows stalking her are not done yet. Shattered Sea gives the spotlight to an artist living with chronic pain whose gallery becomes an unlikely refuge for a jaded Hollywood actor. Their slow burn connection plays out against a backdrop of stalking and violence that threatens to pull her back into fear.

The final book, Fractured Sky, brings the most sheltered member of the group into the center. Once rescued from a horrific situation, she has spent years being treated as fragile. Working with traumatized horses is her path toward strength, and the grumpy trainer who becomes her roommate is the one man who refuses to see her as breakable. When someone from her past resurfaces, the entire Wolf Gap found family closes ranks.

Across all five books, you can expect heavy themes handled with care: kidnapping, domestic violence, addiction, and grief alongside tenderness, humor, and a deep sense of community. Wolf Gap feels like a place where people keep their porch lights on for one another yet still triple check the locks at night. It is gritty without losing hope, full of second chances that are hard won rather than handed out.
