Author bio

Suzanne Snow is a British romance novelist who writes about villages, landscapes, and the way ordinary lives can change when people are given a second chance. She is originally from Southport and now lives in Lancashire with her family, a part of England that feeds a lot of her imagination.

Books came early for her. She has said she started writing short stories at about eight, and because she was pony-mad, many of them involved horses. She also grew up outdoors with horses, ponies, and dogs, which helps explain why seasons, gardens, animals, and country routines feel so natural in her fiction.

Place comes first for her.

Snow often starts with a setting, a village, a house, a landscape, and then asks who might live there, who might arrive, and what they are carrying with them. That approach runs through all her work. Her stories are full of cottages, lanes, farms, gardens, village gatherings, and small communities where people notice each other, for better and worse.

Her path to publication was not especially neat. Before writing full time, she worked in financial services, spent years at home with her children, then retrained as a horticulturist and worked planting redesigned gardens. Later, after attending the Romantic Novelists' Association conference, she found representation and went on to sign a publishing deal.

Gardens matter here too.

Her debut novel, The Cottage of New Beginnings, introduced readers to Thorndale, a fictional Yorkshire Dales village built around fresh starts, inherited houses, and a strong local community. The book was a contender for the 2021 Joan Hessayon Award. She followed it with more Thorndale stories, including The Garden of Little Rose, A Summer of Second Chances, and A Country Village Christmas, each one pairing romance with a vivid sense of place.

She then expanded that world in different directions. Snowfall Over Halesmere House and Wedding Days at Halesmere House move into the Lake District and use an artists' residence as the hub for second-chance love stories. In Hartfell, she brings veterinary work and village life to the fore in books like Finding Home in Hartfell and Christmas at the Home Farm Vets. Finding Home in Hartfell went on to win the Contemporary Romance Award at the 2026 RoNAs.

Across all these books, some things return again and again: people rebuilding after disappointment, communities that can be nosy but kind, and homes or gardens that need care before anyone feels settled. She writes romance, but the love stories usually sit beside friendship, family pressure, grief, work, and the practical business of making a life. That balance is a big part of why her novels feel grounded.

These days she has said she often starts writing around 6 a.m. When she is away from the desk, she is usually reading, gardening, planning a theatre trip, or spending time with family. She has also spoken about occasionally leading worship in church, which fits the quiet steadiness that runs through both her life and her books.
