Author bio
Suzanne Enoch grew up in Southern California, where she still lives. She studied English at the University of California, Irvine, and began making up stories long before writing became her job.
Her first attempts were romantic fantasy. Then she found her way to the Regency period, with its packed ballrooms, strict rules, sharp gossip, and plenty of room for characters to make a mess of their own plans.
Her debut novel, The Black Duke's Prize, arrived in 1995. It was the start of a long run of historical romances built around dukes, rakes, determined heroines, family friction, and the awkward fact that love rarely follows a sensible schedule.
Enoch's books often give a seemingly untouchable hero someone who refuses to be impressed by him. In London's Perfect Scoundrel, England's Perfect Hero, and the Scandalous Brides books, the fun comes from watching polished public reputations collide with private worries, old mistakes, and women who know exactly when a man is being ridiculous.
She also writes contemporary romantic suspense. Flirting with Danger introduced Samantha Jellicoe, a talented art thief trying to go straight, and Rick Addison, the British billionaire who becomes her partner in both danger and romance. The series swaps Regency drawing rooms for Palm Beach wealth, stolen art, security work, and criminal trouble.
Then there are the Highland books.
Series such as Scandalous Highlanders, No Ordinary Hero, and Wild Wicked Highlanders move the action to Scotland, where clan loyalties, inherited feuds, family duties, and stubborn independence make falling in love even less simple. The settings are bigger and rougher, but the emotional engine stays the same: two people with strong opinions learning that partnership does not mean surrender.
Enoch has written more than fifty books across historical romance and romantic suspense. Her work has appeared on major bestseller lists, but the through line is easy to spot without any statistics: brisk plots, lively banter, and couples who are usually in trouble before they admit they care.
She is also a committed movie fan, especially when space adventures are involved. At home in Southern California, she shares her household with people and a memorable assortment of pets, including a dog, a tortoise, fish, lizards, finches, and a parakeet.
That mix of order and chaos feels right for her books.
