Series background & context
The Supernatural Dating Agency series begins with a practical problem. Shelley Linley runs a dating agency in the seaside town of Withernsea, and business is not going brilliantly. Then a client turns up claiming to be a vampire who wants a wife. Shelley assumes he is either joking or deeply confused, but the more time she spends with him, the more she has to reconsider what is possible.
The Vampire Wants a Wife introduces Shelley, vampire Theo, and the basic premise of the series. Shelley is trying to run a sensible business while dealing with supernatural clients who bring very unsensible needs. When threats begin arriving, the question is no longer just whether she can help Theo find love. It is whether she is safe around him at all.
Dating is complicated. Immortality does not improve it.
The books return to Withernsea and expand the agency's circle through vampires, demons, wolf shifters, seers, ghosts, cupids, and other people whose romantic lives need help. Each installment gives a different couple or problem more attention, while Shelley and the agency remain the thread that connects the stories. Later books include family celebrations, cursed or troubled relationships, new premises, and supernatural mysteries that need more than an algorithm to solve.
The tone is light paranormal romance with jokes, misunderstandings, and a busy supporting cast. The series often takes a familiar dating-romance setup and adds a magical complication. A perfect match might be inconvenient, an ex might be a demon, a client may have impossible expectations, or a ghost may interfere with the day-to-day running of a bed and breakfast.
The Cupid-centered stories add another layer. Acting Cupid brings Samara from Crazy, Stupid, Lazy, Cupid into the dating-agency world, while Cupid Fools follows the complications of a match that once went wrong. Dead and Breakfast keeps the series moving with ghosts, a vampire-owned business, and another search for love.
Start with The Vampire Wants a Wife. It provides the clearest entry to Shelley, Theo, Withernsea, and the agency's mix of matchmaking and mayhem. The books can often be enjoyed for their individual romances, but reading in sequence lets the friendships, community, and recurring jokes build naturally.
