There are theater projects, weddings, holiday productions, town celebrations, food trucks, old rivalries, and long-kept family truths. The books have a nice habit of balancing immediate problems with deeper family history, especially once Ginger's past starts taking up more space.

That makes the tone feel a little richer than a simple romance series, even though love is always part of the mix.
