Series background & context

Martha Wells's Stargate Atlantis novels are tie in adventures set during the run of the television series. They follow the familiar expedition team from Atlantis as they chase rumors of Ancient technology and face new threats in the Pegasus Galaxy.

In Reliquary Major John Sheppard and Dr Rodney McKay discover a recording device hidden in an unused section of the city that points to a previously unknown gate address. Hoping it will lead to a vast repository of Ancient knowledge, the team travels to a ruined city on a remote world, only to find that the secrets buried there may destroy minds and twist loyalties.

Entanglement begins when McKay unlocks another piece of Ancient tech on a distant moon and triggers a chain of events that could put entire systems in danger. Sheppard's team must pick their way through treacherous ruins, cope with Wraith interest, and decide whether to trust a stranded stranger who needs the device for reasons of their own.

These books keep the quippy team interactions and mix of science, archaeology, and military action that fans expect from Stargate Atlantis, while giving a bit more room for character beats and the eerie, half broken remnants of the Ancients.
