Star Wars: Darth Vader - Dark Lord of the Sith Books in Order

Charles Soule's Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith begins immediately after Revenge of the Sith. Anakin Skywalker is gone, Darth Vader has been born, and the new Sith apprentice is learning what service to Emperor Palpatine will actually demand.

The series follows Vader through his first missions in the early Empire. He seeks a lightsaber, hunts surviving Jedi, confronts the loss of his former life, and begins building the terrifying identity people will later fear across the galaxy.

It is a story about becoming the monster everyone already knows.

Soule does not treat Vader as a mystery to be solved or a hero waiting to be excused. The books are interested in the machinery of his downfall: grief, rage, obedience, and the way the Emperor keeps using Vader's pain as a tool. Vader is powerful, but he is also trapped inside the path he has chosen.

The series introduces important Imperial-era figures, including the Inquisitors, and gives major attention to Mustafar and the creation of Vader's fortress. It also shows how survivors of the Jedi Order respond to the new danger he represents.

Start with Imperial Machine. The collected volumes continue in order through Legacy's End, The Burning Seas, and Fortress Vader. Reading straight through is worthwhile because Vader's emotional and physical transformation is the long arc.

Expect a bleak, action-heavy Star Wars story with lightsaber battles, Force horror, and a close look at the earliest years of the Empire.
