Spectrum Nights Books in Order

Spectrum Nights is a two-book contemporary romance about Scott Ashworth and Rylan Mahoney, two young men whose relationship is shaped by a painful past, a long separation, and the difficult work of believing they deserve something better. It is one continuing story, so the books are best read in order.

Pieces of Me begins in the Florida Panhandle, where Scott is living in a troubled, unstable home. When they unexpectedly find each other again, the connection is still there, but so are unanswered questions about why Scott left and what happened during the years apart.

Phoenix matters to the series because it gives Scott and Rylan a different kind of community from the one they knew growing up. The club scene around Spectrum brings color, friendship, and noise to a story that also spends time with loneliness, insecurity, and the gap between how someone looks from the outside and how they feel alone.

See My Words picks up directly after the first novel. Following an attack that leaves Scott physically injured, the book turns more fully toward the relationship he and Rylan are trying to build as adults. Rylan wants honesty. Scott wants closeness too, but his old fears and belief that he has little to offer beyond his looks keep getting in the way.

This is an angsty, character-focused romance about trauma, self-worth, and the habits people develop to protect themselves. Scott and Rylan care deeply for each other, but caring is not the same as knowing how to make a relationship healthy. Their story has room for setbacks, difficult conversations, and the slow process of choosing a future that is not defined by the past.
