Sons of the Sand is Kimberly Loth's genie series, and it starts with one of her strongest hooks. Gabe is a jinn who has been trapped for three thousand years. Liv is the girl who finds the lamp. He expects manipulation, a quick death wish, and another easy human mark. Instead, he gets a complication, real feeling.

That is where the trouble begins.

The series works because Gabe is never just a romantic lead. He is dangerous from the first page. He has his own history, his own violent instincts, and old loyalties that do not vanish just because he meets the right girl. Liv, meanwhile, is not stepping into a neat magical adventure. She is walking into a world of genies, old enemies, gods, and rules she does not understand.

Across the books, the conflict keeps widening. A lamp discovery becomes a dangerous relationship. That relationship opens the door to buried secrets, bigger magical systems, ruthless enemies, and the question of whether Liv herself is more connected to this world than she first realized. Love is part of the story, but so are captivity, loyalty, identity, and the cost of staying close to someone who could ruin you.

The tone lands somewhere between paranormal romance and fantasy adventure. There is yearning, there is banter, and there are real stakes behind both. Gabe and Liv do not just have to decide whether they belong together. They have to decide whether being together makes either of them more vulnerable to the forces already hunting them.

If you like genie mythology, cursed immortals, and romances where the hero is genuinely risky, Sons of the Sand is a good fit. The books keep Kimberly Loth's usual pace, but the emotional pull is a little moodier here, and the mythology gives the series its own identity.
