Sins of the Fallen Books in Order

Sins of the Fallen is one of Karina Espinosa's earlier series, and it has a different feel from her later urban fantasy work. This one leans more into young adult paranormal territory, with angels, demons, succubi, and Nephilim all colliding around one teenager who thought he was living a normal life.

That teenager is Maximillion Taylor, usually called Max. His world changes fast after a party goes sideways and he is pulled into a hidden conflict he never knew existed. Suddenly the people around him are not who he thought they were, and questions about his family, his memory, and his identity start piling up. The series gets a lot of energy from that feeling of being thrown into the deep end.

What makes the books stand out is the way they center a male lead in a genre space that often does not. Max is not some all-knowing chosen one from the start. He is scared, stubborn, emotional, and constantly trying to catch up to the truth. His friendships matter a lot, especially as he learns more about the forces around him, and the tension between loyalty, attraction, and destiny keeps driving the plot.

The stakes get strange in a hurry.

Across Sins of the Fallen, Greed, and Lust, the story expands from a personal shock into a broader supernatural struggle tied to the Nephilim and the deadly sins. There are prophecies, betrayals, kidnappings, and more than one moment where it becomes clear that heavenly and infernal sides are both capable of using people for their own ends. Max has to grow up quickly, and not always cleanly, which suits the series.

The tone is faster and a little more teen-focused than Espinosa's later fantasy work, but you can still see the roots of what she enjoys as a writer. Identity crises, hidden bloodlines, dangerous attraction, and characters forced to step into power before they feel ready are all here. If you like paranormal stories with angels and demons, a coming-of-age angle, and a lead who has to fight for answers while his whole life gets rewritten, Sins of the Fallen is an interesting place to see where Espinosa started.
