Series background & context

The Side Chick Catching Main Chick Feelings books do not pretend the central setup is clean. That is part of their appeal. B.M. Hardin starts with a woman who is already in a complicated, morally messy position, then asks what happens when that arrangement stops being just an arrangement.

Moet Monique Murray, known as Moe, is in love with a man who still belongs somewhere else. She is not standing on equal ground, and she knows it. The problem is that knowing better and feeling better are not the same thing. Once Moe starts wanting more than the role she has been given, the series shifts from affair drama into something darker and more unstable.

That emotional shift is the whole engine.

The first book shows how quickly desire can turn dangerous when one person wants commitment and the other wants convenience. Moe tries to figure out whether she should stay, walk away, or force a different outcome, but every option comes with a cost. When she starts looking in another direction, the trouble only widens. Hardin turns the familiar side chick setup into a suspense problem, where the heart is on the line, but the body may be too.

The second book continues that fallout, and that matters because this series is really about consequences. Being the other woman is already unstable, but Hardin is more interested in what happens after the fantasy breaks. Pride gets involved. Jealousy gets involved. Survival gets involved. The emotional mess does not stay private, and once that happens, everybody around Moe becomes part of the danger.

The tone is bold, dramatic, and intentionally uncomfortable in places. These are not books about tidy lessons or easy sympathy. They are books about bad arrangements, powerful feelings, and the way secrets make people reckless. If you like suspense that grows out of intimacy, jealousy, and poor choices made under pressure, this series sits right in that lane.

Moe's feelings are the real problem.

That is what the title gets exactly right. The series is not just about infidelity. It is about crossing an emotional line that makes a hidden relationship impossible to manage. Once Moe wants the kind of love that cannot stay in the shadows, the story has nowhere calm to go. Hardin uses that setup to build a fast, messy, high-stakes relationship thriller with a sharp urban edge.
