Series background & context
Sanctify is Katee Robert's space-opera romance series, and it has a bigger, stranger canvas than the contemporary books. Starships, royal politics, prophecy, and a violent anti-diviner movement all shape the story. The people at the center are trying to survive a system that treats their gifts as a threat.
The series includes The High Priestess, Queen of Swords, Queen of Wands, and Queen of Pentacles. Its recurring thread is the clash between people with power, people with visions, and a group willing to kill to control the future.
This is romance with engines humming in the background.
Robert uses the tarot-inspired titles to signal fate, but the characters still have to make their own choices. Marriages of convenience, reluctant protection, political pressure, and life on the run all feed the tension.
Start at the beginning if you want the worldbuilding to unfold cleanly. Each book adds another piece to the conflict and another couple trying to find a way through it.
