Series background & context
Saint View Murder Squad combines vigilante justice, serial killer suspense, and a surprisingly sweet reverse harem romance. The Murder Squad themselves are a secret brotherhood of damaged men who only kill the worst of the worst, operating out of the same deadly city readers know from earlier Saint View books.
In X's and O's, Violet scrubs toilets for minimum wage and dreams of something more until she wakes up tied to a bed with a monster looming over her. Just as he is about to kill her, three masked men crash in, slaughter her attacker, and drag her into their chaotic world. X is an unhinged psychopath who insists Violet is his wife, Whip is a grumpy, older escort who makes a living being worshipped, and Levi is a former inmate whose handwritten letters once kept her going. Together they start hunting a taunting killer who leaves rhyming threats and seems fixated on their new relationship.
Whips and Chains turns that obsession into a deadly game staged in a warehouse filled with shadows, knives, and a ticking clock. Violet has to trust the very men who scare her as the three of them try to outthink a villain who knows all their secrets. The book digs deeper into each man’s backstory, explores kinks and boundaries, and pushes their strange little family to its limits.
In Reaper and Ruin, an explosion throws the men off a cliff and into the ocean, and for a moment it looks like Violet has lost everything. The mastermind behind the threats is still at large, using every new attack to pry at the cracks in their bond. As the Murder Squad closes in on the truth, they have to decide what kind of life they want after the killing is done, and whether four broken people can really build something lasting together.
Despite the body count, this trilogy leans into dark humor and banter as much as blood and trauma. Violet is tall, plus size, and unapologetic, the men proudly call themselves psychos, and the romance embraces messy feelings, jealousy, and male male attraction along the way. It is a natural next step if you have already devoured the other Saint View books and are ready for something that feels like a twisted love story wrapped in a vigilante thriller.
