Series background & context
The Saint Squad books follow an elite team of Navy SEALs who share both a military bond and a shared Latter day Saint faith. Each novel centers on a different member of the team and the woman who crashes into his life, but the squad itself is the spine of the series. They train together, deploy together, tease each other mercilessly, and quietly carry one another’s trauma.
In Freefall, Lieutenant Brent Miller arrives in the Middle East to extract a group of hostages, including an LDS senator’s daughter named Amy Whitmore. The mission goes sideways, leaving Brent and Amy stranded behind enemy lines with only their skills, their wits, and a long stretch of desert between them and safety. The mix of survival, growing trust, and the reality of political fallout sets the tone for the rest of the series.
Lockdown turns inward, focusing on Riley Palmeta, a survivor of a school shooting who is helping run a training academy for law enforcement. When the Saint Squad comes in to assist with active shooter drills, Navy SEAL Tristan Crowther has to help Riley face the worst night of her life while tracking a new threat that may not be finished with her. Other books, like Crossfire and Backlash, show the team racing to stop terrorist plots while dealing with undercover operations, life altering injuries, and the strain those events put on families.
Throughout the series Abramson keeps one foot in the action and one in everyday life. Missions take the men from the Caribbean to the Middle East and back home again, but readers also see barbecues, weddings, and late night conversations between exhausted spouses. Faith is part of the fabric rather than a sermon, guiding choices without turning the stories into lectures.
As the books progress, Saint Squad storylines cross paths with characters from the Guardian program, the Royals, and even the Falcon Point suspense novels. That shared universe lets long time readers see how a decision in one book ripples into another. Still, each Saint Squad novel can stand alone as a complete romantic suspense story about one SEAL, one partner, and one concrete threat that has to be faced head on.
