Author bio
Rumer Hale was born in Ireland and still lives there, where she writes fantasy and paranormal romance full of magic, danger, and big feelings. She has described herself as an introvert, but also someone with a long list of places she would love to travel to someday. That mix, quiet by nature but always looking toward other worlds, fits her fiction pretty well.
She has been writing for as long as she can remember.
Long before publication, she was making up poems and short stories, including tales about magical kitchens and strong heroines. For her, stories were a way to go somewhere else for a while and bring other people along. Becoming an author was not a sudden left turn. It was a childhood dream that stayed with her and slowly became real.
And romance was always part of the appeal.
Hale has said she loves romance in almost any genre, contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, even sci-fi, as long as love sits at the center of the story. Her own books lean most heavily toward paranormal and fantasy romance, but they all work from that same idea. Adventure matters. Magic matters. The emotional connection is what gives the whole thing its heartbeat.
Her debut novel, Blood and Ruin, arrived in 2021 and introduced many of the things readers now connect with her work: a battered but stubborn heroine, a dangerous supernatural world, fated mates, and a strong survival streak. The story continued in Blood and Wrath and Blood and Reign, building out a darker trilogy around Kiarra, her past, and the powerful men pulled back into her life. Readers who click with these books tend to like the mix of supernatural politics, high emotional tension, and love interests who are fierce, messy, and deeply protective.
She does not stay in one lane for long.
With Beneath the Starlight and Storms, Hale moved into a darker one-couple fantasy romance with a loose Tink and Hook inspiration. Then Shadow Bonds and Shadow Fated opened up a newer world of elite shadow warriors, body-swapped identity, academy danger, and four very complicated mates. Across those books, you can see the same interests coming back again and again: women forced to fight for themselves, men who are not easy to trust, magic that changes the rules, and relationships that have to be earned.
That is probably the clearest thread in her work. Hale likes strong heroines, but not the cardboard kind who never crack. Her leads get hurt, doubt themselves, get angry, and keep going anyway. Her settings are full of shadows, creatures, and supernatural power, yet the stories stay close to questions of loyalty, healing, belonging, and what love looks like after fear, loss, or betrayal.
These days, she lives in Ireland with her daughter and family. She has said her favorite time to write is either early in the morning or late at night, when everyone else is asleep and the house is quiet. When she is not writing, she is usually reading, or unwinding with a series or a film. It sounds like a pretty good life for someone who has spent years building imaginary worlds in her head.
