Series background & context

The Rossler Foundation books are JC Ryan’s big archaeological techno-thriller series. They begin with a simple hook: what if the truth about human history is hidden inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, and what if powerful people are willing to kill to control it?

At the center are Daniel Rossler and Dr. Sarah Clarke. Daniel is drawn into the mystery of the pyramid, and Sarah brings archaeological knowledge to the search. What starts as a historical puzzle soon becomes something far larger, involving ancient messages, repeating cycles of civilization, modern intelligence agencies, and secret organizations that have been working in the dark for a long time.

The past is not quiet here.

In The 10th Cycle, Daniel and Sarah begin uncovering clues tied to the Great Pyramid and the mysterious Orion Society. Ninth Cycle Antarctica widens the map, sending a Rossler Foundation expedition after evidence of an impossibly old civilization beneath the ice. The setting matters because Antarctica is not just remote. It is dangerous, politically sensitive, and full of places where a secret could stay hidden for a very long time.

As the series continues, the discoveries become less like museum pieces and more like weapons. Genetic Bullets moves into a genetically targeted disease connected to discoveries in Antarctica. The Sword of Cyrus brings in nanotechnology and the threat of a weapon small enough to hide but powerful enough to change the world. The books keep mixing ancient knowledge with present-day fear.

Later entries, including The Skywalkers, The Phoenix Agenda, The Rowen, and Termination, push the story into dystopian territory. The Foundation’s discoveries draw in governments, military forces, secret councils, revived ancient powers, and technology that can be used for healing or control, depending on who gets there first.

The appeal is the blend. You get pyramids, maps, Antarctica, ancient archives, covert operations, political pressure, and science-fiction-flavored technology. The Rossler Foundation is trying to understand the past, but again and again it has to decide how much of that past the modern world can survive.
