Rockford High Books in Order

Rockford High is a clean young adult romance series about high-school students dealing with crushes, rumors, family stress, schoolwork, and the very public nature of teenage mistakes. Each book focuses on a different couple, but the shared school setting lets characters and storylines overlap.

The series begins with Don't Bet on Love. Lane accepts a challenge to get the school's so-called ice queen, Trudy, to attend Homecoming with him. Trudy overhears the bet, has no interest in being humiliated, and then gets stuck tutoring Lane in calculus. Their rivalry turns into something neither planned.

The books use classic YA-romance setups, but they also give the characters real pressures beyond dating. College ambitions, family problems, reputations, friendship fallout, and the fear of being judged all affect the choices they make. A bad-boy label, for example, may hide a more complicated story.

In Don't Fall for Trouble, Jessica is paired with Christian Black for a science project and finds there is more to him than his reputation. Later books bring in a paid flirt, anonymous messages, an effort to save a local opera house, and a movie star who shakes up the usual school social order.

The tone is quick, emotional, and age-appropriate, with kissing and romantic tension rather than explicit scenes. The stories let the characters make awkward decisions, then ask them to grow up enough to apologize, communicate, and see past first impressions.

Start with Don't Bet on Love, then continue with Don't Fall for Trouble, Don't Trust the Impostor, Don't Kiss Your Enemy, and Don't Trash the Heartthrob. Reading in order is recommended because familiar faces keep appearing as the group at Rockford High changes and grows.
