Series background & context

The Relentless Chase books lean into billionaire romance, but they do it with a heavier suspense edge than the title might first suggest. At the center are Sydney Chambers, a successful attorney who wants a family, and Sebastian Johansen, a wealthy software tycoon and computer hacker who looks like exactly the wrong kind of complication. Their chemistry is immediate, but the real engine of the series is what keeps tearing them apart after that first spark.

Sydney and Sebastian do not get an easy courtship.

Family expectations are part of the problem from the beginning. Sydney is already living inside other people's ideas about what her future should look like, and Sebastian arrives just as she is trying to figure out whether the life she planned is actually the one she wants. Once their relationship starts, the books add more pressure through exes, lies, betrayal, a terrorist plot, pregnancy, and later even kidnapping. Parks keeps stacking emotional and external conflict on top of the central romance.

That makes this series feel different from the mafia books. The danger is still there, but it comes through technology, secrets, and people using love as leverage. Sebastian is the kind of hero who goes after what he wants, and Sydney is constantly being asked whether she can trust that kind of intensity or whether it will swallow her whole.

The tone is dramatic, fast, and sometimes messy on purpose. These books are built for readers who like reunion scenes, emotional reversals, and a couple that keeps getting tested long after the first fall into bed. If you want Posey Parks without the full crime-family machinery of Hidden Witness, Relentless Chase is one of the clearest entry points.
