Series background & context
This series lives close to the mafia world, but it comes in through security work instead of the throne itself. The first books focus on Ritchie and Tori, with later entries widening the circle. Ritchie is employed by Lucas Esposito Jr. and is already carrying guilt and damage before the romance really starts. He is supposed to be doing a job, keeping order, finding missing people, protecting the family. Then a woman gets under his skin and nothing stays professional.
That conflict drives the whole line.
The bodyguard angle changes the mood in a useful way. These heroes are close enough to power to understand its rules, but they are also the people cleaning up the fallout. That means the romances often start in motion, in hotels, during searches, after injuries, or while somebody is already hiding from the next bad thing. Love does not arrive during calm. It arrives during assignment mode.
The later books, including Catch & Bianca, keep building on that setup. Men tied to the Esposito world keep meeting women who complicate the job, and what starts as protection turns into possession, loyalty, and emotional dependence. Parks clearly enjoys writing that shift, the moment a man who was supposed to stay focused realizes he would rather burn the mission plan than lose the woman in front of him.
If you like bodyguard romance with a mafia backbeat, this series is a solid fit. It gives you danger, proximity, and injured heroes without needing every book to center the actual boss.
