Low Tide turns to Carter St. Clair, a Hollywood actor who returns home after a brutal stalker attack, and Quinn Reese, the physical therapist who once loved him and is now trying to escape her own possessive ex. In Dark Water follows Mercer Leighton, newly widowed and back in Rarity Cove, after she witnesses a double murder in Charleston and ends up under the protection of homicide detective Noah Ford. Different couples, same sense that starting over is never simple.

That is what gives Rarity Cove its appeal. The suspense is real, there are stalkers, violent exes, murder investigations, betrayals, and weather that can turn nasty in a hurry, but the emotional stakes are just as important. Tentler likes characters who have been bruised by grief, fear, or bad choices and are still trying to make a decent life. The town gives them a place to land, but it also tests whether they are ready to trust anyone once they get there.

So even though the series has danger in every book, the overall tone is a little warmer and more intimate than a straight thriller. The coastal setting, the recurring St. Clair family, and the mix of romance and threat give the trilogy a welcoming surface with enough tension underneath to keep the pages turning.
