Series background & context

The SWAT books are some of the most openly protective stories in Julie Miller's Precinct world. These are tactical-entry, fast-response romances where the job itself demands closeness, planning, and the readiness to put your body between danger and someone else.

The mini-series includes Protecting Plain Jane, Protecting the Pregnant Witness, and Nanny 911. Each story drops a SWAT-connected lead into a very personal crisis, a woman targeted for what she knows, a witness with nowhere safe to go, or a child who turns a protection job into something much more intimate. Miller keeps the action moving, but the emotional engine is always trust.

These books also show how good she is with professional competence. Her officers know how to clear a room, set a perimeter, or read a threat. What they are less prepared for is how quickly a case can become emotional. That is where the series gets its bite.

If you want tactical romantic suspense with vulnerable witnesses, forced proximity, and heroes and heroines who understand risk for a living, this is a strong short run.
