Series background & context

Pelican Bay Billionaires is a connected small-town romance series set in the same Maine community as Megan Matthews's Pelican Bay Security books. This time, the focus shifts toward the wealthy Kensington family and the people pulled into their orbit. Money opens doors, but it does not make family baggage, grudges, or local crime disappear.

The series starts with Family Business. Mari Chambers returns to the United States after two years away, needing funding for her humanitarian project in Guatemala. A fake-fiancé arrangement seems like a practical answer, until another Kensington relative decides he wants Mari for himself. It sets the tone for the books, which enjoy classic romance setups while letting consequences get messy.

Pelican Bay remains a small town, even when the characters have huge homes and corporate influence. The security crew, bakery regulars, longtime locals, and business families share the same streets. That means a relationship problem can quickly become a town problem, especially once criminal activity begins to reach into the characters' lives.

Repeat Business puts Katy Kadish and her longtime adversary at the center of an enemies-to-lovers story, with a local death adding urgency to their already difficult history. Boy Business takes a brief detour to Colorado, where an unexpected music-festival assignment brings together an uptight billionaire and a blunt band manager while the mob remains a threat.

The series gets more suspense-heavy as it continues. In Simply Business, Lily Dianthus is fighting to save her grandmother's florist shop while billionaire CEO Jerome Kensington's construction project threatens her livelihood. Deadly Business follows Hazel Webb and hacker Corbin Kensington after Hazel's boss is killed and a dangerous figure from Chicago comes after her evidence.

By Joint Business and Criminal Business, mistaken identity, kidnappings, mobsters, and rival criminal forces are part of the stakes. The romances still matter, but they unfold under pressure. People have to decide whom to trust, how far they will go for family, and whether they can build a life without letting danger run it.

These books work best in order because the family dynamics and criminal threads build from one installment to the next. Readers can expect billionaire romance with a lively small-town cast, familiar faces from Pelican Bay, and plots that pair relationship drama with real risks.
