Patterson's Bluff is Stefanie London's small-town Australian comfort zone, a fictional coastal community inspired by Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. The setting brings together beaches, wildlife, tree-lined streets, nosy locals, and the kind of family networks that make it impossible to stay anonymous for long. In The Aussie Next Door and Her Aussie Holiday, outsiders arrive thinking they are just passing through and quickly learn that a town like this has a way of rearranging people.

The first book follows Angie Donovan, an American who falls for Australia almost immediately and decides she might also be able to fall for an Australian in time to solve a visa problem. Her nearest obstacle is Jace Walters, the funny, solitude-loving next-door neighbor who wants a quiet life and keeps getting pulled into hers. The second book brings in Cora Cabot, another American in need of a reset, whose house-swap escape goes wrong the moment she discovers Trent Walters is already in residence. Once again, privacy loses.

That Walters family connection helps anchor the series. These books are not about a tiny town populated by strangers who happen to meet cute. They are about community, and about what happens when one person's problem becomes something everybody can see, comment on, and occasionally help fix. London uses that connectedness well. Patterson's Bluff feels welcoming, but also inconvenient in exactly the right romantic ways.

The tone is lighter than some of her city-set books, though not fluffier. There is humor, of course, but also loneliness, uncertainty, and the fear of wanting a permanent life in a place you never expected to belong. The setting softens the characters without making their conflicts disappear.

If you like beach-town romances with a real sense of community, generous side characters, and couples who start with practical problems and end up facing much bigger feelings, Patterson's Bluff is a lovely place to spend time. The books stand alone, but together they build a fuller picture of the town and the family at its center.
