Series background & context

Passion and Perseverance is a trilogy of contemporary romances loosely inspired by Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice. Instead of Regency drawing rooms, the stories unfold in offices, law firms, and big-city apartments, but the core questions remain the same: how do you balance pride, ambition, family expectations, and the messy business of falling in love?

First Impressions sets the tone. Beth Bennet is a rising star in public relations whose career has taken priority over everything else. When her father asks for help selling the family law firm, she expects a straightforward deal and a chance to prove herself. What she gets is William Darcy, a brilliant, aloof buyer who pushes every one of her buttons. The book leans into verbal sparring, simmering attraction, and the way early judgments can be completely wrong.

The later novels, Second Chances and Third Time is the Charm, stay in the same orbit, following people connected to Beth through work and family as they navigate their own love lives. The focus shifts to characters who thought their shot at happiness had already passed or who are sure that love means repeating old mistakes. Office politics, complicated exes, and tangled professional stakes keep the tension high while each couple figures out what they are willing to risk.

What ties the trilogy together is its mix of smart women, emotionally guarded men, and the idea that perseverance matters as much in relationships as it does in careers. The books are full of nods to Austen – sharp dialogue, misunderstandings, and families who mean well but interfere anyway – yet they are firmly rooted in a modern world of emails, boardrooms, and social media fallout. If you like romances where professional and personal lives are tightly entwined and characters have to grow up a little to earn their happy endings, this series delivers exactly that.
