Series background & context
Paranormal Investigations Team is a spin-off from The Ever Chace Chronicles, but it has its own feel from the start. The older series helps with context, especially for family ties and past events, yet this one is clearly interested in what comes next, who inherits the chaos, and how a new generation handles a world still full of monsters and old wounds.
The cases are still dangerous.
The difference is that the focus shifts to newer central figures, including Ashlyn Doyle, Zach Moore, and Kenzie Blake. These characters are not outsiders walking into the supernatural world for the first time. They already belong to it. They are agents, fighters, survivors, gods or almost-gods, and people with enough history behind them to make every new problem hit a little harder.
Ash and Fenrir set the tone well. Their bond is complicated, unwanted on one side, and emotionally confusing on the other, which makes their forced proximity especially tense when werewolves begin turning up dead. From there the series keeps pairing supernatural crime plots with intensely personal romantic and emotional stakes. Zach and Hel get pushed into a deadly hunt. Kenzie is forced back toward a past she thought she had escaped. Old enemies resurface, and past damage never stays neatly buried.
That makes the series feel more intimate than its name might first suggest. Yes, these books involve investigations and cases, but they are just as interested in what the work does to the people handling it. Mates, prophecies, old trauma, grief, and family pressure all show up alongside the external threats.
Norse myth also sits closer to the surface here. Fenrir, Hel, Valkyries, and other myth-linked elements help give the series its own texture, separate from standard paranormal police fiction. The tone is still romantic and action-focused, but there is a mythic thread running under it.
If you already liked the bigger Ever Chace world, this series is a natural next step. And if what you want is supernatural crime with strong character ties, dangerous bonds, and a cast who already know exactly how ugly the world can get, Paranormal Investigations Team understands the assignment.
