Paladins of Darkness Books in Order

The Paladins of Darkness series is built around a brutal, secret war. Paladins are warriors born to protect the human world from the Others, dangerous beings separated from it by an unstable barrier. When that barrier weakens, the Paladins are called into battle.

They can die, but they do not always stay dead.

That ability comes with a terrible price. Each return from death brings a Paladin closer to becoming one of the very creatures he has spent his life fighting. Their handlers, often doctors and researchers, care for their injuries and must be prepared for the moment when a warrior cannot be brought back safely.

Dark Protector introduces Devlin Bane, one of the Seattle Paladins, and Dr. Laurel Young, the handler responsible for helping him survive. Their work requires distance, but the pressure of the war and Devlin's growing risk make that impossible. From there, the series follows other Paladins, their allies, and even people from the supposedly enemy side of the barrier.

The world gets bigger as the books continue. Readers meet warriors who are tired of fighting, women with knowledge or abilities that put them in danger, and characters forced to question the easy division between friend and enemy. In Darkness Reborn and Redeemed in Darkness, in particular, show that the Others are more complicated than the Paladins have been taught to believe.

Every victory has a cost.

The series balances action scenes and paranormal suspense with romances that often begin under difficult conditions. There are doctors and soldiers, researchers and warriors, enemies who must cooperate, and people trying to hold on to their humanity when their world insists they are weapons.

Seattle and the Pacific Northwest give the series a modern, grounded setting, while the barrier, the underground world of the Others, and the Paladins' unusual ability to recover from death add the fantasy element. The larger story develops across the books, so publication order matters more here than in many romance series.
