Odd Is on Our Side

by Dean Koontz

2010

3

In Odd We Trust

by Dean Koontz

2008

In this graphic prequel, Odd Thomas is still a teenager learning what it means to see the dead. When a series of murders hits town, his gift and his instincts push him toward a dangerous first attempt at saving strangers.

Series background & context

The Odd Thomas Graphic Novels are a different doorway into Koontz’s paranormal world: same town, same sense of looming darkness, but told with art and panel-by-panel pacing. They work especially well as prequels, showing Odd as a teenager before the main novels begin.

In In Odd We Trust, Odd is still learning what it means to see the dead and listen to them. Odd Is on Our Side and House of Odd continue that early run, mixing high-school life with murders, mysteries, and the first hints that Pico Mundo attracts trouble like a magnet.

Because they’re graphic novels, the scares land differently. You get quick visual reveals, tighter cliffhangers, and a more immediate sense of how lonely Odd’s gift can feel, even when he’s surrounded by friends.

Short, spooky, and surprisingly sweet.

If you enjoy these, they pair nicely with the prose series: read the comics first, then start the novels with Odd Thomas for the full arc.
