The Objects of Attraction books are where Penelope Bloom really leans into the style a lot of readers now associate with the name, messy meet-cutes, grumpy rich men, sharp-tongued heroines, and a level of sexual innuendo that knows exactly how silly it is. These are contemporary romantic comedies, and they are built to move fast.

At the center of the series is a connected world of wealthy bosses, busy offices, side hustles, and bad first impressions that somehow turn into very good chemistry. The books are linked, but each one focuses on a different couple, so you can read them as standalones if you want. Starting with His Banana is still the easiest way in, because it introduces the tone right away, a heroine in over her head, a hero with control issues, and a setup so absurd it somehow becomes the whole point.

The recurring appeal here is the clash between order and chaos.

Bloom's heroes tend to be polished, successful, and convinced they know exactly how their lives should run. The women who knock those plans sideways are usually scrappier, funnier, and far less willing to behave. That gives the whole series its shape. One book might start with an undercover job, another with a package mix-up, another with a landscaping disaster, but the emotional engine is usually the same. Two people who are absolutely not looking for love end up stuck in each other's orbit until resisting becomes pointless.

Familiar faces pop back in, old jokes carry forward, and later books feel a little richer if you have already spent time with the earlier couples.

For all the title jokes, this is not a parody series. The humor is broad, but the romances are sincere. Bloom likes over-the-top setups, yet the payoff is almost always emotional, a control freak learning to bend, a woman learning she does not have to stay on the outside, or two stubborn people realizing attraction is the least of their problems. If you want rom-coms that are quick, sexy, and completely unbothered by how ridiculous they can get, this series knows the assignment.
