Nightwind Books in Order

The Nightwind books are dark fantasy pirate romances linked by the sea, curses, and a world where monsters come in many forms. The first novel, A Ship of Bones and Teeth, reworks The Little Mermaid into something bloodier and meaner, with Princess Maren trying to escape an awful marriage, a sea witch’s bargain, and the wreckage of a choice she made when she was far too young.

Captain Ramsay Bones Battista and his haunted ship bring the series into full gothic adventure mode. The high seas matter here, but not in a light swashbuckling way. The second book, Ocean of Sin and Starlight, keeps the same world but shifts to a new couple. That gives the series a linked standalone structure. You stay in the same dark oceanic setting while getting a fresh romance, this time with pirates, sirens, immortality, and a hero who is already half convinced he is a monster.

That is really the unifying idea of Nightwind. These are stories about people shaped by bargains, curses, violence, and monstrous hunger, trying to figure out whether love is another trap or the one thing that might let them become something else.

If you want fairy tale atmosphere with pirates, sea magic, morally gray leads, and a lot more bite than a standard fantasy romance, this series is worth diving into.
