Series background & context

The Dark Eyes Duet starts like a dark contemporary romance and then opens into a full supernatural world. Lenore Warwick thinks she is headed toward a normal milestone birthday. Instead she learns that the strange man stalking the foggy streets around her is not just dangerous, he is a vampire, and so is she.

That reveal changes everything fast.

Lenore has been raised without knowing her real nature, and Absolon Stavig, usually called Solon, becomes both guide and problem. He is centuries old, morally messy, and stuck between protecting her and pulling her further into a world full of blood, magic, and enemies. The first book has that strong awakening feel, with San Francisco as a moody modern backdrop and danger coming from both slayers and vampires.

The second book widens the world. Lenore is no longer just trying to survive the truth about herself. She has to figure out what she wants to do with it. Warlocks, vampire royalty, family secrets, and a trip into Finland all make the stakes bigger and the romance more volatile.

What stands out in this duet is how lush it feels. The books lean into hunger, glamour, sex, and danger, but they also keep Lenore and Solon emotionally off balance in interesting ways. She is smart and stubborn. He is powerful and unreliable in all the ways that matter most.

If you want vampire romance with a modern setting, strong supernatural mythology, and a relationship that gets messier the deeper it goes, this duet delivers exactly that.
