The Night Spinner duology is a young adult fantasy series about Enebish, a former imperial warrior whose life has been reduced to a single terrible accusation. Once, she was one of the Sky King’s most feared soldiers, able to wield the rare magic of darkness and starfire. After the massacre at Nariin, however, she is known as Enebish the Destroyer. Scarred, stripped of status, and blamed for the deaths of innocent people, she has been sent to live at a remote monastery.

At first, the series is built around Enebish’s hope for redemption. Her adoptive sister, Imperial Army commander Ghoa, gives her a chance to return to service if she can capture Temujin, the rebel leader blamed for stealing the empire’s supplies. Enebish expects a difficult mission. Instead, she finds a wider war, people near starvation, and evidence that the rebels may be protecting the very communities the empire claims to defend.

The setting is a harsh, snowy world divided by the Ashkar Empire, the rival nation of Zemya, and the vulnerable communities known as the Protected Territories. The landscape matters because survival is always close to the surface. Food is scarce, travel across the tundra is dangerous, and armies can decide who gets help. The political conflict has a personal cost for Enebish, who has to decide whether duty means obeying the ruler she once served or listening to what she sees for herself.

Night Spinner follows her across this fractured country as she works with Temujin, her loyal friend Serik, and others whose motives are not always easy to read. The story has secrets, shifting alliances, and a slow-burn thread of romance, but its main focus is Enebish learning to live with guilt while figuring out whether the guilt she carries is truly hers. It is a loose fantasy reworking of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, though it builds its own world, magic, and political history.

In Sky Breaker, the scope grows. Enebish is on the run with Serik and a group of shepherds, trying to bring the Protected Territories together against the Sky King and the Zemyans. At the same time, Ghoa faces captivity and discovers that a dangerous sorcerer, Kartok, has ambitions that reach beyond winning a war. The old conflict between Ashkar and Zemya turns out to have roots in a much older struggle involving the gods.

The final book asks Enebish and Ghoa, two people with every reason to distrust each other, to confront the damage done by their empire and their own pasts. Expect a tense, wintry fantasy with magic, rebellion, hunger, betrayal, and characters forced to rethink what loyalty should mean. Start with Night Spinner, then move directly to Sky Breaker for the conclusion.
